Comprehensive Examination
Candidates for all of the master's degrees
in English must pass the
master's comprehensive examination. This examination is
administered by the graduate committee of the Department
of English and is given each February, June, and October.
The examination is given in the Auditorium Building, and is held from 8:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
The comprehensive examination may be taken
twice. If the candidate fails the examination on both occasions,
then permission for any retake of the examination must be
granted by the graduate committee.
Students must register for this examination
at least one week in advance of the examination. If you
have registered for the examination and cannot take it for
any reason, you must cancel your registration at least 24
hours in advance of the examination. Failure to do so will
result in a "take" (i.e., a grade of "fail")
of the examination.

get copies of examination materials (including sample copies
of the examination), contact:
